-
Who: ISAT Students, Faculty, Parents, Alumni, and Friends
What: A golf tournament
When: Sunday, October 16th, 11:30 AM
Where: Heritage Oaks Golf Course (map)
Why: Fun, fellowship, and a chance to raise money for ISAT Roberds Scholarship
All members of the extended ISAT community (basically all people who would like to come play golf with us) are cordially invited to join us for an afternoon of golf, food, and fellowship at the Heritage Oaks Golf Course at 11:30 AM Sunday, October 16th, 2011. Your entry fees cover the cost of your golf, a golf cart, and dinner after the event. Come at noon to practice your swing out at the driving range. You can also enjoy fun and refreshments with ISAT students, faculty, and friends.
How the Fundraiser Works
Based on your team's score an anonymous donor will give a set amount of money to ISAT. The more people to play, the more we raise. Last year's event netted nearly $4,000 for the Richard Roberds Scholarship. We are happy to announce that with those funds and other efforts of the ISAT community, we've exceeded our initial target of $25,000 needed to begin awarding the Roberds Scholarship to an ISAT student. The first Roberds Scholarship was awarded to Marlee Najamy-Winnick, currently a senior in the ISAT program, and this year's recipient is Chris Brown. This year we have a new target: all new funds we bring in can go to increase the amount of scholarship funds we are able to disburse each year. Please help us to double the current endowment to $50,000!

Who is Dick Roberds and what is the Roberds Scholarship?
Dr. Richard Roberds was the first Department Head of the Integrated Science and Technology Department at JMU. The Roberds Scholarship was created to honor the great work that he did for the ISAT Department and its students. Upon reaching our fundraising goal, the Roberds Scholarship will be awarded each year to an ISAT student who embodies the spirit of what it means to do true integrated problem solving.
