Welcome to The Department of Integrated Science and Technology
The mission of the Integrated Science and Technology Department is to empower students to analyze and solve real-world, human problems by integrating scientific, technological, business and social aspects of these problems and to communicate innovative solutions to a diverse audience.
The Integrated Science and Technology Department is the home of innovative interdisciplinary programs in Geographic Science [undergraduate, major and minor] and Integrated Science and Technology - [undergraduate and graduate, major and minor] which emphasize the application of scientific and technological knowledge to real human problems, giving attention to the social context as well as the technical aspects .
All ISAT graduates work in a variety of jobs immediately upon graduation, in industry and government agencies, consulting firms and educational contexts. They are also in demand in local, national and international or non-profit contexts, to analyze policy issues, or to help organizations understand complex regulations
ISAT geographers with geographic information systems experience are in high demand in a wide variety of mapping related careers. Others work in international relations and development work.
A significant proportion of ISAT graduates enter graduate schools in a wide variety of programs in the pure and applied sciences, policy, law, medicine, and international relations.
We value student initiative, foster team work, and encourage students to question how the world works, and how they can make a contribution at the highest levels. We encourage hands-on learning through close relations with local and national high technology firms, and government agencies.
Our diversity gives our students a well-informed, technically sophisticated, critical perspective on science and technology affairs for the community, the nation and the world.
